A light, compact mapping device with a huge screen. A real bargain: for £300 you get the unit plus GB OS 1:50,000 mapping, with a licence to use it on five devices, eg computer and smartphone. PC compatibility is seamless. In the field it mostly performed well, but the touchscreen was initially off-kilter and the unit later ground to a halt after a storm, possibly the result of condensation inside. It later came back to full working life, but it was a surprise as the unit’s waterproof rating has been tested by immersing it in water for 30 minutes with no impairment. Memory-Map say any such problem would be covered by warranty.
