Lowe Alpine Talon Glove (2013)

Due to changes in ownership Lowe Alpine have been a brand that have been sitting on the sidelines for a couple of years, but the Talon Glove marks a welcomed return of this brand to the outdoors. The glove has leather on the palm and back of the fingers, with some stretch material on the back of the head. This gives the glove a robust feel on the hand, but it does feel a little stiff and less dexterous than higher priced gloves here. The wrist is elasticated but I found this design a little tight to easily slip on my hand and would certainly prefer a little more stretch here. The cuff is medium in length, but it has no drawcord adjustment, so while it can be fitted inside a jacket sleeve it cannot be easily fitted over a sleeve and again its narrow opening just makes getting these on not as easy as I would like, especially with cold, wet and numb hands. In terms of insulation they are not as warm as higher priced gloves. But I do like that you get a wrist leash, nose wipe and clip to fasten a pair together. All that for £55 makes these great value and certainly if your hands are slim you may find you can get these on and off easier than I could, so worth trying.

Verdict

A well priced durable glove, but the narrow wrist does mean they are not as easy to get on as others and they are not as warm as some higher priced options.
