This waterproof is primarily a ski jacket, so it is very warm. The insulation is built into a waterproof shell, though, so it will keep your child dry too. You even get a zip-out snow skirt for keeping the powder at bay. Hem drawcords and Velcro cuff adjustment keep draughts out, while a stormflap on the main zip keeps water out. There are two hip pockets, plus an internal pocket. A panel for the child’s name and address is sewn inside the jacket. The hood is removable and insulated, and it has a wrap-around design to protect against a cold wind. A strip of reflective piping adds safety to night-time action. Use this on the ski slopes and it could be perfect. But as this is designed as a ski jacket, it is very warm – and so when walking around below the snowline, your child could cook. So we’ve had to strip marks away as it isn’t really suitable for hill-walking. The hood has wrap-around face panels, which may get in the way unless battened down.
