The North Face Primavera

The relatively stylish look of this general-purpose waterproof jacket hides a good selection of features for the hill-walker. The material is Gore’s Performance Shell, so top of the scale for waterproofness and reasonable breathability too. You get a good lining too, which adds a little more comfort as well as controlling any build-up of condensation . To help keep the rain out the main zip gets a double stormflap, while pit zips allow cooling air to flow through the jacket to control condensation. The length is typically short, but you do get two pockets on the chest that are ideal for the hands or a map, even while wearing a rucksack. The fixed hood gets a stiffened peak and reasonable movement. This jacket manages to look great and pack a healthy punch of practicality for the hill-walker or traveller.  But for more cash you get more breathable material. Also other jackets are lighter too. A few jackets are also a little longer in the body. For general outdoor use, these drawbacks are minor, making this a good option for hill-walkers.
