This lightweight waterproof weighs only 398g (men’s size L), making this a very attractive option. The design is based around Gore Paclite fabric, which offers proven performance. The cut is a little loose, which allows reasonable movement in the sleeves without the hem or cuffs riding up and also a little extra length than some others. The two main chest pockets just about take an OS map, while an additional chest pocket is useful for a compass. To improve condensation control the chest pockets are mesh-vented and also there are pit zips. The hood is quite good, with a peak and good adjustment that allows it to move quite well with the head. This is great for hill-walkers looking for low weight and good features. But the hood, the movement in the sleeves and the pockets are a little better on some other jackets. The mesh lining in the pockets won’t be as watertight as a sealed pocket, so this is not the best for the wettest of weather. Paclite does not control condensation as well as others. So small niggles rather than major flaws.
