This waterproof jacket from Outdoor Scene uses Indra fabric that is so stiff, it digs in uncomfortably, especially if you wear the jacket over a base layer. It never really feels like it fits properly. In its favour, the hood is a good fit, with easy adjustment. The mid-length cut will also appeal to many walkers. There’s no doubting the weatherproofness of the Felix, either – it does a sterling job in even the worst squalls. The pit zips work well for ventilation when the going gets very warm – a big plus on a jacket in this price range. It’s very heavy though and doesn’t pack down that easily, so isn’t as versatile as some.
Verdict: A bombproof jacket that has an almost old-fashioned feel to it, especially as it weighs in close to a kilo. It’s a good price, but the stiff and noisy fabric won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.
