This lightweight waterproof tips the scales at just 428g (men‘s size M), yet it boasts virtually the same level of features as other jackets in its price bracket. The Fusion blends a Gore Paclite body and hood with Gore Pro Shell on the shoulders, for maximum weight saving while maintaining good condensation control on the shoulders. Like most jackets we looked at, there are three chest pockets plus a good double stormflap over the main front zip to keep the worst of the rain out. The hood fit was outstanding for me, but it maybe just my head shape, while the hood peak is also good and stiff, which results in excellent clear vision in most conditions. This is a superb jacket that is ideal for those wanting to push the weight and packability envelope just a little more. But as the body is mostly Gore Paclite fabric, you’ll get more condensation inside this that a pure Gore Pro Shell jacket. Also the higher price tag is a surprise considering only a small section of new Pro Shell is used.
