Berghaus Ramche (2014)

The Ramche is one of Berghaus’s MtnHaus products, designed by mountaineers for top performance in the fiercest conditions. It features hydrophobic down, which resists water better than normal down, so it’s better able to retain its insulating performance when wet. Offset baffles reduce heat loss from the body core, while square baffles on the upper arms and stitched-through baffles under the arms maximise freedom of movement and comfort. On the outside you get shiny Pertex Quantum GL, which may not appeal visually, but it’s extremely light and durable. The hood can go over a helmet but it also has an impressive fit on the head when adjusted. The sleeves also provide an exceptionally good fit. There are two huge external pockets and two internal pockets. This all adds up to a jacket that has close but not restrictive fit, while being very warm. With a weight of just 523g (size L) the Berghaus Ramche is a stunning piece of kit for serious winter use when weight and performance are your number one priorities.
