The North Face Varius Guide Pant

These waterproof overtrousers have all the features you would demand from a waterproof trouser, plus some extras. They have a full-length zip which allows you to get them on and take them off with ease over either muddy boots or even crampons. The side zip is covered by a substantial stormflap to help keep out the rain. The ankle cuff is given adjustability by a Velcro tab and is reinforced with tough fabric for extra protection. Underneath all this is an internal gaiter to keep dirt and snow out of your boots. The waist is lined and has Velcro tab adjustment as well as some elastication and braces. There is also a press stud fly. Unlike other trousers, these have three pockets, all of which zip shut. All this is topped off by a tough, protective fabric and a good cut
But These are not the lightest trousers available, and they don‘t use the most breathable fabric. They are likely to be exceptionally warm. They are best suited to winter sports where they could be worn all day. The fabric and lining makes them bulky and unsuitable for stowing in a rucksack for emergencies.
