Rohan is well-known for making great travel gear, but these waterproof overtrousers are good enough for hill-walkers too, particularly as they feel more durable than some of the lighter options. They get 44cm side zips, which were long enough to allow easy fitting over my size 11 boots. The zips are fitted at the back of the calf and get small double stormflaps to keep out the rain and grime. A small press stud tab tidies up the ankle cuff. The waist features a basic elasticated and drawcorded design that works well. The lining inside the trousers adds a little more comfort than some. You can stuff the trousers into the rear zipped pocket, which is a neat way to store them. These are a good option for the price. But trousers with full-length zips are even easier to fit over boots, while a waistbelt and a slightly more articulated fit may be preferred by some users. The biggest drawback is that they are almost twice the weight of some others tested here.
