At under half the price of some comparable trousers, the Regatta Geo Extol Zip-Off is clearly going to be a favourite in terms of cost. But this is more than a low-priced product, as it also has plenty of practical features that allow it to compete with the best here. The fabric is quick-drying nylon as with higher-priced trousers. The waist is elasticated and is fitted with belt loops. There is some articulation in the knees to improve the fit too. But most importantly of all you get calf-length side zips so that the zip-off portions of the legs can be removed more easily over boots. There is drawcord cuff adjustment too. The pockets include two seat pockets, two thigh pockets and two map-width thigh pockets. That all adds up to a pair of great trousers at a great price, and most walkers would be very happy with them. But the Regatta Geo Extol Zip-Offs’ hip pockets are not quite big enough for a map and the thigh pockets are not very deep either, so compared to others the pockets are not quite as good. There is no crotch gusset and no stretch fabric, so the fit could be a little better too. For me the fit was a little closer than others, so you might want to check the sizing as I felt it was a little on the small side.

For the price the Regatta Geo Extol Zip-Offs are excellent, but you do get better trousers if you spend more.
