Really quite technical trousers and performed incredibly well on the hills. The stretch-woven fabric is more like traditional soft shell, which allows for a great range of movement whilst remaining close-fitting and doesn’t ride up. This can be particularly useful on windy ridges and when tackling difficult terrain. The narrow fit in the leg is helped with a zip-opening ankle that allows you to fit them over the top of boots much more easily, although the tight cuff can ride up over boot tops. Perhaps the best compliment for these trousers is that you don’t really notice them when on. Of course, with all this technical design flair, they come at a high cost, and don’t look terribly at home as casual wear, but as a pure walking item, they’re spot-on.
