It would be easy to assume that for £40 you would not get very good trousers. But the Keela Paraguay/Rio Zip Off Trousers are superb, and far more impressive than their price suggests. The big advantage is the fabric, which is a lightweight stretch nylon. This makes the trousers incredibly comfortable while retaining a conventional style. The waist is elasticated and belted too so they should fit many shapes! There are two hip pockets that can take a map, plus a hidden zipped security pocket and a rear pocket. These are trousers that perform far better than their price suggests, and for that reason they are clearly the best value in this test. But the Keela Paraguay/Rio Zip Off Trousers would be even better if they had zips in the lower legs to make it easier to remove the zip-off sections over boots. I’m not convinced that the stuffsack built into the lower leg is of any use either. Some adjustment at the ankle cuff would be useful too, and so would large leg pockets.

The Keela Paraguay/Rio Zip Off Trousers are extremely comfy at an extremely good price with good features for walkers. They won ‘Best Value’ in our test.
