Like many Vango tents, this 4-person family tent is pitched outer-first which is ideal for the wet weather so often encountered in the UK. Three colour-coded poles slip easily through mesh sleeves around the outer, while ladder-lock adjusters make the tensioning easier. The inner tent is suspended inside and provides plenty of room. The porch area is huge at 220cm in length and means a couple of mountain bikes or loads of gear are easily stored. Outer doors are provided on each side of the porch and these also get midge nets to allow venting of the porch without letting in the bugs. But this is not quite as spacious as some other comparable tents, and also some are slightly more stable in the worst of weather. The outer doors have midge nets on the inside, which means you have to open them (thereby letting in the midges) before you can open the main door. There is not as much venting in this tent as in some others.
Verdict: Buy it if you want a good all-rounder for general camping and backpacking and do not require the most spacious or most stable design.
