An extremely light weight of just 321g makes the Terra Nova Laser 20 ideal if minimal load is your top priority. It has a relatively plain back system with just two strips of mesh padding to reduce the build-up of condensation along the body contact areas. There is no stiffening in the back though so you have to take much more care when packing this sack to ensure a degree of comfort. The hipbelt fins and shoulder straps are padded, but again they are free of stiffening, which allows the pack to hug your back, but the hipbelt cannot take the weight as well as a stiffer hipbelt. There is just one main compartment, which is entered via a central zip that extends down the whole length of the compartment to provide easy access (as long as that zips keeps working). There is no additional zipped outside pocket, except for small pockets on the hipbelt, but you do get two large mesh pockets and bungee cord that can act as a volume adjuster. The Terra Nova Laser 20 is a dedicated lightweight sack that hugs your back well and is stripped right down in terms of features. For some it will be perfect due to its weight, while others will prefer more features to improve comfort and general user performance.
Capacity 20 litres Verdict If low weight is your number one priority then the Terra Nova Laser 20 is a great choice, but apart from that many heavier sacks offer better performance. Review by Graham Thompson
