When used on colder, wetter walks earlier on in the year, the Rohan pack coped handsomely. The waterproof zip design and rugged outer fabric mean that in all but torrential rain the insides remain dry, without having to rely on drybags quite so much. Of course, opening the zip design does mean that everything inside is quickly exposed to the weather, although you can easily dig to the bottom for kit. The back system isn’t anything to shout about, with a couple of padded sections and not much else. This leads to a sweaty back when it gets warm, although there is a good flex between the two sections. The relatively compact shape of this pack and clean looks, coupled with a tough-as-old-boots fabric, does make it suitable for general use and travelling.
