It’s certainly stripped back, with no waist strap, and only a flimsy padded back system for strength and comfort. You have to be careful when loading it to keep soft kit towards your back and you can’t overfill it (which is all too easy to do) otherwise it will sit uncomfortably. There are a couple of mesh side pockets, normally reserved for bottles, although they will only really hold a 500ml size and are much more secure with the pack loaded. For speedy access on the go, there are a couple of zip openings to the main compartment, although the pack is so small it’s a little superfluous, especially as you always have to undo the over-large main lid to get proper access to the zips.
