Osprey Atmos 35 (2011)

A cracking pack from Osprey with a technical feel to it and a lot of different fabrics used throughout. The main compartment is huge and access to it is good – through a zip opening with some pleasingly large zip-pulls. The zip entry may not be for everyone as there is a slight increase in the chance of getting water into the pack. That’s compounded by a lack of rain cover, although a rucksack liner or dry bags is a more elegant solution anyway. The back system is efficient, without sitting too far off the back, and flexes really well with the body when leaning forward and moving. The straps are all well-padded with good venting on the shoulders and great support around the hips – ‘pull-in’ style straps really helping to get a good fit. The technical look may not suit everyone, though.
