The Habu is the rather overdue ladies’ version of Montane’s brilliant Cobra daypack. It’s wonderfully light but not flimsy; in fact it’s one of the most robust and mountain-ready packs I’ve used. It has everything you need for year-round hiking: easy-access hip pockets, volume-adjustable straps, and attachments for walking poles and even an ice axe. It can easily swallow a day’s worth of stuff, especially as the flat back panel means no loss of storage space. With careful packing and minimal kit, it might even do an overnight hike or wild camp. The ingenious back panel has sculpted channels to circulate air so I seldom got a sweaty back, and it fits beautifully; the waist straps are lightly padded and there’s an upper chest strap for security. It will suit a smaller frame best, but this really is ready for any kind of walk you might ask of it.
Extra pockets: 4 (interior x2, belt x2)
