These three-season leather boots from Zamberlan are a little narrow at first, but they soften up quickly and are then very comfortable. The lacing system, which allows you to get a really good fit and stops them feeling clumsy, despite their weight, is great. The padded tongue is exceptionally comfortable and the high ankle cuffs offer good support. The wonderful rolling action of the sole spurs you forward. The Vioz performs impeccably on all surfaces. Perhaps a little heavy for shorter, low-level walking, but perfect for journeys higher up in the hills and backpacking trips, being incredibly stable on rocky ground. The shock absorption and grip of the Vibram sole is excellent. They’re exceptionally tough, too, with a lovely full-grain leather upper, although a rubber bumper at the toe would improve longevity.
Verdict: A luxurious Gore-Tex full-grain leather boot offering superb grip, shock absorption and stability. The simple, one-piece leather upper gives maximum durability and waterproofing. A top performer with a high price tag.
