A full leather upper makes the Timberland Youth Eurohiker children’s boot durable if looked after. The ankle cuff is high enough to keep the worst of the water, mud and grit out, while the supportive heel and toe box are well suited to rougher terrain. The outsole is reasonably aggressive and stiff too, again ideal for rougher terrain. But there is no waterproof lining, so you’ll need to look after the leather to maintain dry feet. The rubber rand is good for durability, but perhaps more than is necessary? While the sole is good, others will be even better for rockier terrain.

Verdict: The Timberland Youth Eurohiker is a good children’s boot for heading to the hills, but others are a notch better for rough terrain.
