Definitely something completely different: the Magiko is aimed squarely at climbers. It has a unique Vibram Vertical sole which features a slick contact patch around the toes. This works fantastically on rock but is obviously less effective on wet mud. It also has an asymmetric fit, which means the toe area turns inwards slightly, making it easier to apply pressure through the big toe. So how does it work for walkers? Extremely well on dry paths and rock – ideal for scrambling or perhaps walking abroad but not so good in Peak District peat. And the lacing needs to be left quite slack to avoid the toes feeling like they are being crushed.
