The Salomon Exit Sport 2 GTX is a well-proven multi-activity shoe that is a well-established modern classic. The Exit Sport has a stylish upper with suede leather overlaying textile that hides a Gore-Tex XCR waterproof lining to keep your feet dry. The toe is reasonably stiff for better foot protection when walking on rocky terrain. The heel cup is very supportive too, and this performance edge continues underfoot with good stiffness in the sole, which takes the pressure out of rocky paths when heading through valleys or up into the hills. Also you get a reasonably deep and aggressive lug pattern on the outsole to keep a grip in the mud or when descending grass slopes. It’s a great shoe for general outdoor use particularly when biking, walking or trekking and for most people this is an ideal outdoor shoe. But others have a slight edge for scrambling or for long-term durability. There’s no rubber rand, so this is not the best option for climbers approaching crags, for example. And the lacing does not extend as close to the toes as some shoes, which again is not so great for getting a precise fit.
