Merrell Azura Breeze (2015)

Though noticeably light from the start, the Azura Breeze still surprise you once they’re on your feet. Merrell often shine when it comes to making lightweight, barefoot-influenced shoes to take you over the rockiest terrain, and this is made precisely in that vein. The upper is a mesh/suede combo, with added ventilation holes so it’s light and extremely breathable on hot days. It is definitely not waterproof, so don’t try soaking them, although they will dry out relatively quickly afterwards. The sole is one of Merrell’s own offerings, padded with an air cushion in the heel. It’s pretty tough, the grip is decent and there is no compromise on ground feel. This is where the surprise comes in: they feel light all the way through your walk, and that lightness transfers to your gait. The fit is narrow, but the Remember Me foam means they feel comfy from the off. One for agile mountain goats.
