This 3-4 season boot is built around a leather upper with a huge rubber rand for extra durability and a Gore-Tex waterproof lining. The ankle cuff is quite high, so you get lots of support when backpacking with heavy rucksacks across scree or walking across a snow-covered plateau. Underfoot there is an aggressive sole unit, and it’s generally ideal for year-round use on almost any terrain. Its cushioning and rolling action are excellent. Sole stiffness and upper stiffness are ideal for use with crampons. There is lots of internal padding, which makes these boots very comfortable straight from the box. But this boot is a notch heavier than the Raichle and higher in price. The higher volume and generally wider feel of this boot mean that it is not ideal for scrambling when the closer fit of the Asolo or even the Raichle is definitely preferable.
