These multi-activity shoes from Keen have slightly odd sizing, and might feel a little uncomfortable at first, as the bulbous bumper presses into your toes. But they feel great after a few miles, holding your feet in place perfectly and offering plenty of protection. They are quite warm. The reasonably stiff midsole is well-suited to more rugged terrain, while the outsole grips well on most surfaces, proving a good compromise between hard and soft going. The huge toe bumper certainly does its job, too.
Verdict: A unique-looking shoe that will handle some rugged walking, and makes good travel and casual footwear. The waterproof leather has a classy feel, but it’s a lot of money for a non-Gore-Tex product.
