The Towa is wide and roomy at the toe but quite narrow at the heel so it needs quite careful lacing to avoid toe-bang on descents. The tongue and ankle cuff are well padded and they feel great when you first pull them on. It’s a chunky, rugged boot, with excellent heel and toe protection and a quite rigid midsole that carries a foot easily over rougher ground. The sole is a decent all-rounder and a Gore-Tex lining keeps water out. Against it, though, it does feel heavy, and it’s also quite warm.
