Boreal Zanskar 2011

The Boreal Zanskar is an extremely robust boot that is well-designed for tackling the roughest of rocky mountain terrain, day after day. It has a leather upper, which itself is pretty durable as there is so little stitching. But what really sets it up for a long life in the hills is the full rubber rand, which is very high and encloses the whole boot. This makes the Zanskar extremely durable. Surprisingly, given the upper design, this is relatively lightweight. Underfoot the performance-orientated design continues with a very aggressive Vibram sole unit hat has widely spaced deep lugs for maximum grip without clogging with mud. You don’t get a Gore-Tex lining, but you do get a Dryline with Sympatex lining, which performs just as well (and some might say even better). But do you really need that level of durability? As if you don’t then the Boreal Zanskar is overkill for you as you can get lower-priced and lighter boots if you only want a boot for occasional use in the rockier hills.

The Boreal Zanskar is a superb boot for those that need maximum durability at a good price and weight for that level of performance.
