The Berghaus Raid Junior is a boot that has proved its worth over the years and it remains unchanged for this year. There is a waterproof lining and a relatively clean upper, which will help with long-term durability. The outsole is Vibram branded, while the toe box is solid to offer good protection. But the Vibram sole has shallow lugs, so it is not as good as some others on wet, muddy or grassy slopes. Also the lugs may well wear smooth sooner than deeper lugs. The sole is very flexible too so it is not ideal for rocky terrain.

The Berghaus Raid Junior is a useful valley boot that would be fine on hills if the child sticks to the paths.
