New for this spring, the waterproof V1 Trail Shoe is quickly going to become a contender; especially for those who put walking performance above everything else. At 910g per pair they’re quite a heavy shoe; but this just reflects the fairly beefy spec, which includes a good deal of suede on the upper, a solid toe box and heel counter and a useful sole unit which provides great grip in typical soft British conditions, yet enough stability to rock-hop in the higher mountains. They are good-looking shoes, too: outdoorsy yet conservative enough for casual wear or travel. And at just £65 a pair, they might persuade a few shoe-sceptics to join the revolution.
