The V1 Trail is a rugged, good-looking shoe that is great to walk in and really will take the knocks. At over 900g (pair) it is one of the heavier shoes out there, but in return for carrying a few extra grams you get a pretty solid upper with plenty of leather for support and a reassuringly firm midsole that handles rough and rocky ground with aplomb. It has just enough padding to feel comfortable but remains firm on the foot, and the last is of average width and volume so will suit a lot of walkers. The Tri.aria waterproof lining kept water out and the Trail-Grip 1 sole inspired a lot of confidence and grip on most surfaces, excelling in particular on drier trails.
