The Adidas Terrex Fast R manages to keep the weight down while packing in the performance needed to move across a wide variety of terrain. At the heart of the design is a synthetic construction very much built around the Traxion sole unit. The sole is extremely aggressive, with a pattern of deep, widely spaced studs in the forefoot and an incredibly aggressive heel lug pattern for braking power in descent. But grab the Adidas Terrex Fast R between heel and toe and it has plenty of stiffness too, meaning you can clamber over rock without forcing your foot muscles to contort to every ripple underfoot. For harder surfaces there is a huge amount of cushioning too, which allows this shoe to cope with just about any normal walking or running terrain you’re likely to meet. The upper is made of light synthetic material, but it is reinforced at the heel and there’s a toe bumper. Get it on and it comes across as a very lightweight shoe with a stiff sole unit; this feels superb and almost encourages you to move quickly across the ground. The Adidas Terrex Fast R weighs just 944g (pair, size 11), which is remarkable for the performance.
Upper material synthetic
Waterproof lining none
Sole unit Traxion Continental rubber
Men’s sizes 6-12
Women’s sizes 3-10
Weight 944g (pair, size 11)
Superb weight and performance allows the Adidas Terrex Fast R to tackle, mud, moor, rock and scree easily when moving fast; but others are better for pure climbing.
