The AKU Utah Micro 3-4 season boot has a unique tongue design that means there is virtually no stitching to leak or fray on the upper, even alongside the sides of the tongue. The upper is going to be hardwearing but there is also a rubber rand around the boot to make it even more durable, which is ideal for rocky terrain and scrambling. A Gore-Tex waterproof lining guarantees dry feet too. The outsole has a good aggressive lug pattern that is deep enough to provide long-term durability as well as give good grip on a wide variety of terrain. Good stiffness in the sole and upper also makes this ideal for use with crampons or easier mountaineering. The good cushioning underfoot means that this boot is comfortable on walk-ins to the fells also. This is a great boot for general 3-4 season use. But as the AKU Utah Micro’s ankle cuff is relatively low there are boots that have more ankle support. Some boots are also slightly lighter and others are lower in price. But really there is not a lot wrong here.
