AKU Larosa 2010

The AKU Larosa is a new boot that makes use of Air8000 fabric in the upper, which is more breathable than standard fabrics so the result should be less sweat inside the boot. There is also a Gore-Tex waterproof lining to maintain dry feet. The upper has suede around the toe, heel and lower sides to add valuable durability. There is not too much stitching, so again durability is maintained. But what I also like is that the upper is reasonably stiff and supportive to protect the foot on uneven and rocky ground. The toe is firm too, to protect the toes. Underfoot there is good stiffness, which makes this suitable for rockier terrain while a good Vibram outsole has deep lugs to keep a grip in the mud. This is a modern styled boot but it fulfils the traditional needs of a hill-walker. However you will get more durability from a leather upper or a boot with a high rubber rand. Also there are boots with a more aggressive lug pattern and more stiffness in the sole. There are lighter options than the AKU Larosa too, if weight is your top priority.

The AKU Larosa is a good boot for general valley, hill and mountain walking at a good price for the performance.
