Vango Compact Gas Stove 2011

There are a lot of very similar direct-mounted gas stoves, but of all of them, the Vango Compact Gas Stove offers the best value for money, while also being reasonably light. The design is fairly standard, with folding pan supports, but you do get a 12cm support diameter, which is a notch better than average. Flame control is good (as it is with most direct-mounted burners) and the whole bundle packs away neatly into the supplied plastic box. Some gas burners of this style don’t provide a very stable support for pans, but the Vango Compact Gas Stove is pretty good. Equally, some folding pan supports can become stiff due to heat and the build-up of soot, but again this design doesn’t suffer this fault. If you’re short of cash and you want a reasonably lightweight gas burner then this is about as good as it gets. But like all gas burners the boil performance drops off as gas is used up. There are slightly lighter gas burners available if you want to save weight rather than cash. As with all direct-mounted gas burners, more stability is available from a hose-mounted gas stove.
