Páramo Long Gaiters are very well-proven. Like Páramo waterproof clothing they benefit from a fabric that is extremely durable, and even if it does become torn it is more easily repaired than other waterproof fabrics. The fabric is slightly warmer than some others, but it’s also more breathable and controls condensation well. The gaiter is fitted with a zip that starts from the top and zips down to the boot, and this does make fitting it very easy. There are press studs to hold a stormflap in place over the zip. One of these press studs is situated below the knee where there is also drawcord toggle, and this can be uncomfortable if you kneel down on it. The gaiter was quite a baggy fit on me; when simply walking this is not a major problem, but when wearing crampons I’d prefer a closer fit to prevent them catching the gaiter so easily. There is a good foot stirrup that is easily adjusted and it can also be replaced easily. It’s a great gaiter in many ways, but the price is pretty high compared to others that are available.

The Páramo Long Gaiter is a good walker’s gaiter with some unique features, but the fit is quite baggy and the price tag is higher than many.
