Tissot T-Touch Expert (2013)

The Touch range from Tissot’s stable in the Jura mountains has an emphasis on sport and activity – not something often found in Swiss watches. Apart from the fact it’s made from titanium – which makes it feel as light as a cheap plastic watch – the crazy thing about the T-Touch Expert is, as the name suggests, its touch-sensitive face. This is deeply fancy; once the touch-screen is activated, you hit one of five functions dotted around the face (Altimeter, Barometer, Stopwatch, Compass and Thermometer), the hands spin swishly to take on a secondary function, and the Tissot T-Touch Expert’s digital display gives you the specifics. It’s more straightforward than it sounds; but is it very much easier than pushing a button? No. Does it make you feel like a pleasing mix between Reinhold Messner and Captain Kirk? Yes.
