The North Face Base Camp Duffel is one of the most established models on the market, and it has long been regarded as an industry standard product.
It offers many of the same features displayed on the Vango Cargo, but with a tougher, sturdier design that is reflected in the price tag. The ballistic nylon construction – reinforced by double stitching and a tough underside panel – is reassuringly hardy and thick to the touch, making this a good choice for slinging into airline holds and resisting the abrasion of general travel use. It has twin opposing handles at each end, two mid handles with an affixing clasp and two separate shoulder-mounting straps for rucksack-style carrying. There is an expansive netted pouch on the underside of the main panel, an overhanging flap to protect the zip from moisture, and a convenient ID pocket on the top to quickly identify your own edition of what has proven a consistently popular bag.
The main compartment is simple and spacious, while four tightening straps on the sides of the base make securing the size of the main compartment a simple affair. It weighs in at a distinctly average 1.6kg.
A wide variety of colour options available makes this an attractive as well as robust and reliable product that should ideally suit most foreign or domestic trips.
