Insights from backpackers on the West Highland Way have inspired designs and features on a new range of backpacks from Berghaus. Available now, there are three large men's and women's packs in the spring/summer 2015 collection - the Wilderness, Ridgeway and Trailhead.
During the product development process for 2015, Berghaus designers backpacked on the West Highland Way, combining the experience of the hike with plenty of consumer research. The team returned to the office with suggestions and information that influenced the development of three distinct large rucksacks for men and women.
Top of the range are the men’s Wilderness 65+15 and women’s Wilderness 60+15, at £140; the men’s Ridgeway 65+10 and women’s Ridgeway 60+10 retail at £120; and the entry level packs are the men’s Trailhead 65 and women’s Trailhead 60 at £100.
All of the packs incorporate Berghaus’ highly effective BIOFIT™ ‘on the move adjustable’ back system, and the feature sets and prices on each are designed to appeal to different backpacking consumers, from experienced trekkers to young Duke of Edinburgh Award participants.
Also new for the season are the lightweight men’s and women’s Trail Speed 30 and 20 daysacks, Berghaus’ most effectively ventilated packs ever. Berghaus has adapted its iconic Freeflow (still available in the range), removing the mesh from the back system entirely with a design that creates greater air circulation to the centre of the back. The Trail Speed packs offer maximum comfort when moving quickly in the hills and mountains and weigh in at only 865g (30L) and 740g (20L). The Trail Speed 30 retails at £70 and the smaller pack retails at £55
