Therm-a-Rest, the Seattle-based leader in premium outdoor comfort, has won a 2014 OutDoor Industry Award for the EvoLite-a two-season sleeping pad that blends award-winning NeoAir comfort with the convenience of self-inflation.
The EvoLite mattress was one of three winners in the camping equipment category, selected from a pool of 361 entries from 35 different countries by an international jury of outdoor experts. "In this product, Therm-a-Rest has combined low weight with a high level of comfort," stated the jury. "In addition, it's quiet enough to ensure a good night's sleep." The jury also recognized the mattress for its degree of innovation and choice of materials.
At 480 g (1 lb. 1 oz.), the EvoLite mattress hinges its blended technology on Atmos™ Foam, the lightest and most compressible foam on the market. Exclusive to Therm-a-Rest, the foam is poured in a closed, atmospherically controlled chamber that allows all gasses to be captured and "scrubbed" before venting, ensuring precision control over uniformity and loft.
Therm-a-Rest alternates foam and air channels to drastically reduce the weight of traditional foam mattresses while amplifying loft. At 5 cm (2 inches) of loft, no other lightweight, self-inflating mattress provides this amount of loft and comfort. Excellent self-inflation allows just a few breaths to top off the thick mattress for optimal firmness.
"It's only logical, that as inventors of the self-inflating mattress, we would take our unmatched experience and know-how to reintroduce self-inflating technology to today's backpackers," said Doug Jacot, vice president of Therm-a-Rest.
The EvoLite mattress will be will be available in retail stores in Spring 2015 at a recommended retail price of £100.00 in the UK and £119.95 in Ireland for the regular size.
