Spring in Farndale - with Country Walking

Hi - could I give a shameless plug for the North York Moors National Park's Daffodil shuttle bus? Last year it took 1636 people from the car park at Hutton-le-Hole to Farndale's lovely daffodils all for the bargain price of £2.50.

Using the bus helps keep traffic and congestion in Farndale to a minimum and means the (largely farming) community can go about their daily business unhindered. It also means you can sit back and admire the wonderful scenery without having to negotiate the narrow moorland roads!

The bus will run on Sundays from 21 March until 18 April plus Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday. More info at www.moors.uk.net/moorsbus

Hi Paul - shucks, ya got me...we got this in spring last year so it was in the bag for this year (bearing in mind magazine schedules operate two months ahead of their publication dates - if we'd waited for this year's daffs, you'd have been reading about it in late June!). Hence the info about the webcam in the magazine - there's a pretty-much-daily update on the state of the daffs at www.farndale.org/daffy, and the site will start showing webcam images shortly. For the record, the most recent entry says some daff heads are already breaking through, but the cold winter has really held them back, so they're at least four weeks behind their usual 'schedule'.

Brilliant video - Is this really this year? 

I live in the Vale of York and always expect the Farndale daffs to come out usually a few weeks after us - they are nowhere near coming out here this year - hence the question.

Top tip for walkers - this walk is a good one to combine the "old folks visiting for Easter" and going for a walk , as it can be at minimum 2 mile of failry flat (but beautiful) countryside.

My wife has bannd me calling this the Farndale daffadildo walk in front of the in-laws!
