GEAR EXCLUSIVE - The GPS that will change the way we navigate

This is a poorly thought out review. No mention of the battery life - only a few hours and it is not a replaceable rechargeable; ie for a full days walking one would need a, eg power monkey. Screen is small and drop down menus are difficult to manipulate. Only plus is if one already has the Memory Mapping software. The Satmap 10 is by far the best, after trying all others including the Road Angel Adventurer and Garmin Oregon. 

 How well does it find the satellites compared to a Garmin version. ie does it work in a forest or in thick cloud as well as a Garmin ? How does this technology compare ? 

From what I understand this was designed from scatch to be used with Memory Map. And given that I have invested a lot of money into buy this kind of mapping I think its great - but given how tight money is these days I'm not sure I would go out and buy this unit - especially since I've downloaded Memory Map on to my Windows Smartphone.

If you don't own a smartphone - this might be a very nice piece of kit. But for those of who do - I don't see it as cost effective.

I was emailed by memory map last week with the official release. I see this as a break through piece of technology in the outdoor world. It seems well priced but i have a few questions

• Is it rugged enough to use in driving rain?
• Does the unit come with a warranty, i am a but worried about this....memory map does have its errors and some are still unresolved
• Does the battery life stand up to the claims?
• When will Trail be doing a full review?
• Do you see the price coming down, it seems well priced but as you all know the RRP means nothing after a while in the market place.
