Country Walking Magazine - September 2009 Issue

Unlock the Peak District in 15 fabulous walks.

That's the simple idea behind the September issue of Country Walking and my, did we have fun with it!

Getting astronomically lucky with gorgeous weather (and thus smashing pictures), we tracked down the walks that put the Peak District on a plate.

Not necessarily the most famous or popular; just 15 walks which we know you'll love, from loneliest summit to deepest dale. Try some of these, and you'll end up a Peak District expert before you know it.

We've also gone in search of gorgeous landscapes that have inspired the murderous plots of Britain's crime and horror writers, kicking off with the landscape beloved of Agatha Christie.

And we've gone way out east to marvel at how man tamed the Fens of East Anglia and turned them into a unique landscape for walkers and wildlife.

Our gear testers get their teeth into soft shell jackets and hydration systems, keen walker Nell McAndrew offers her fitness tips and you'll learn how you can save £1,114 a year by walking!

All this plus 27 brilliant walking routes (including of course, our Peak District crackers), Irish sea-caves, and Stuart Maconie on cow attacks.

Country Walking September 09: a cliche it may be, but this really is 'Peak Perfection'.
