We've Started, now we can't stop...

A couple of years ago we pootled up to the lakes for a week.
Her Majesty had a pair of proper walking boots, and wanted to try them out on something slightly more adventurous than the flatlands of Suffolk.
This after having overcome Breast Cancer, seemed a bit daunting, but with a new pair of boots on my feet, myself and our two boys took off for what we thought would be a nice gentle stroll up Cat Bells.
Well the two boys managed to give up at the bottom, mainly with stage fright, and not exactly the correct footwear (check out the mums and dads in hiking boots and kids in sandals - not ours though, you understand!).
If you are going to do it, do it properly. So a nice warm sweaty day and our first Wainwright.
This year we came for a two week stay, still novices, and scared of wet weather.
We got loads of that. But Latrigg came and went, with a look upwards to Skiddaw and an "I don't think we will manage that" followed by Skiddaw and his Little Man.
Yes we managed it (well three quarters of us did. One stayed home to wash the dishes and watch the telly...).
An exciting day, with a visit from the Rescue Chopper for some poor soul, and a cheery "I remember you from Latrigg the other day" from one of the MRT.
So four down, 210 to go. It would seem we have found something to do for the next 20 holiday seasons or so.
Keep Safe. Be prepared for whatever the fells can throw at you, leave the sandals at home, get your children a proper pair of boots and we'll see you all next year.
Either that, or we move the family up north so we get to do kit more often.
