Hike For Heroes

Myself and two friends decided to try and tackle Dartmoor in October 2009 to raise money for Help for Heroes. Our initial plan was to do a circular route around Dartmoor (100 miles) in four days. Well that plan changed very soon as a combination of bad weather and carrying all our gear in an army bergen and rucksacks forced us to alter the route.
We camped out in the wilds of the moors which was great fun, even when we got a bit lost and had to camp on the side of a hill, in the rain and fading light with an ominous sound of running water nearby.
In the end we only did about half our planned route and spent one night at a bunkhouse in Princetown (the excellent Plume of Feathers) to try and dry off.
We raised over £700 for Help for Heroes and The Royal Anglian Regiment benevolent fund. This year in April we are getting six of us together to 'do' the Lake District, that is climb as many of the peaks in a four day hike.
Can't wait.
