Have you hit the climbing wall yet this winter? It’s a great way to keep your balance pepped for scrambling this spring (click here for training from Mountain Instructor Pete Hill, author of Indoor Climbing) Scarpa already knows this because they have created two new climbing shoes, the Vapour and the Instinct, using new rubber from quality sole maker Vibram.

Vapour
First up, the Vapour £95 uses Vibram XSEdge, designed for maximum support on the tiniest of holes and to keep its shape over hours of repeated edging in hot or cold weather. Scarpa also us their ‘Slingshot-Power’ system in this shoe to connect the critical area under the toes directly with the heel to allow super precise heel hooking. It is also available in a slipper version – the Vapour V.

Instinct
Then there’s the straighter-shaped Instinct £90 which uses Vibram XSGrip to create a comfy, sturdy high performance shoe that’s best used for bouldering and modern, overhanging sport routes. A slipper version is also available for the Instinct.
