Snowdon Bus plea

You might have considered providing the letter in Welsh as well condidering the country in which Ieuan is located, out of respect to his first language? The translation costs alone might eclipse the funding for the Sherpas. As far as the funding goes, it's unfortunate, but the buses have just not been used. I don't think i've ever been on one of these buses with more than a couple of other people (over 21 years now) except for the few in season buses from pen y pass that will not be affected. I also think that this sort of campaign will draw the hypocrites out of the woodwork who think that having public transport is a good idea, but for other people. I'm still hoping that a source of funding, such as cancelling some adverts as Silver Rocket 89 suggests, is found as even if it's not used as much as it should be, it's a valuable service to those of us who need to get into the park and refuse the immense pressure on us by society to drive cars. As an aside, and presuming that an ethical stance is being taken here, does Trail make it a company policy that it's staff park on the edges of the park and then make use of public transport to get around where practicable (which in Eryri, it's perfectly reasonable to do so - or at least was) ;-) Ultimately, this boils down to us all putting our money where our mouths are.

What are the alternatives ? Bigger car park opposite the YHA ? More cars parked along the roadside and in gateways causing a hazard ? ... or more people pushed towards the Railway and the Llanberis railway path ? Wonder if there are commercial pressures other than government spending here ?

Speaking from the opinion of someone who has used the Sherpa bus over the last few years, i find this quite upsetting. People who do not have access to a car {like myself} will struggle to reach parts of north Wales in the future it seems. How about cutting back on one Welsh tourist board tv advert and putting the funds towards keep this facility active. I'm not going to get involved in the mire of politics surrounding this but you cannot help arrive at the conclusion of hypocrisy by the Welsh government, searching for more tourism whilst cutting back transport.
