Cumbrian politicians seem to think so.
Lib Dem MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron says those who live in the region should get the right to vote and his Tory opponent Gareth McKeever agrees.
The proposal is for the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District to join.
The Dales extension would feature the northern Howgills and the Lakes extension would feature fells to the north of Kendal.
There's also the small matter of the Orton Fells, north of the Howgills where, if accepted, could be part of either the Dales or the Lakes.
An official three-month consultation starts tomorrow (Friday 18th December).
