This may not come as a surprise to anyone who's braved the hills over the last few weeks.

But rainfall in the Lake District has been more than three times the average over the course of the month.

Snowdonia and south-west Scotland also received huge quantities of rain making it the wettest November Britain has known since records began.

Yet if you've been walking to the east of the country you'd have had a much better chance of fine weather, as many areas here have remained relatively dry.
