Our forums are already the best in the outdoors thanks to you lot, and now we’ve attempted to return the favour by making the posting and browsing experience easier.
We’ve made over 20 improvements to the forums designed to make it easier and more pleasurable to post, stay in touch with your threads, show off your photos and respond the moment inspiration strikes. Many of the changes are subtle and we’ll leave you to discover them, but some of the biggies include…
You can stay in touch with topics you’ve posted or are interested in by clicking on the ‘Subscribe to topic’ link, at the top right of the first page of any thread. With no other input from you, email notifications will then be sent to you should more replies be posted while you’ve been away from your computer. And don’t worry about cluttering up your inbox – only one email will be sent between return visits to the site, however many replies are posted.

It’s now easy to see who’s online at the same time as you. Increase your chances of a quick response by looking for the red ‘Online’ notice under their name and photo.

You can post up to three photos in a message in one go, and they’ll be visible as clickable thumbnails as soon as they’ve loaded. Clicking on the photos no longer opens a new window, but creates an attractive ‘postcard’ view on top of your current screen.

You can now create hyperlinks easily by clicking the ‘world’ symbol in the new formatting toolbar.

The enlarged reply box is now permanently open and waiting for your response, so you don’t have to leave the page you’re reading to reply. Click reply (or the new “quote” option) and you’ll be scooted down to the reply box resident at the bottom of every page, to get typing right away.

Now you can preview a thread before clicking on it by hovering your cursor over it. You can also go straight to the latest reply in a topic from the forum homepage by clicking on the blue arrow. You can also see a real-time view of when the latest post was and who made it. Within-thread navigation is also faster thanks to new drop-down page number menus.
